Rheda-Wiedenbrück, 26 March 2025 The award ceremony was held in the festive setting of Rheda-Wiedenbrück City Hall on Monday evening. Former decathlete Frank Busemann gave a keynote speech and hosted the evening, skilfully building a bridge between athletic and business success. The event was attended by a number of high-profile guests, including State Parliament President André Kuper. Mayor Theo Mettenborg presented the certificate together with a sculpture made of subvolcanic rock by the Langenberg sculptor Bernd Bergkemper.
In his laudatory speech, the managing director of Musterring International Alexander Höner emphasised: “Remaining true to its roots while looking forward to the future is what characterises COR and especially its managing partner Leo Lübke. The company has earned a strong national and international reputation for manufacturing upholstered furniture to the highest of quality standards, while adhering to a clear sustainability strategy.”
COR has been setting standards in the furniture industry for many years and, ever since its establishment in 1954, it has remained loyal to Rheda-Wiedenbrück as its production location. The products COR manufactures are all examples of outstanding craftsmanship, timeless design and sustainable production processes. Special mention should also be given to the way the company has synchronised its engagement with the local community and culture with its business goals. Continuous investments and an understanding of its markets are additional factors that have contributed to the success of the family-owned company.
Leo Lübke, Managing Partner at COR, was clearly delighted to accept the award: “What could be better than receiving an award in the city you love, live in, work in and are proud of? It feels like winning the World Cup in your own country! COR’s success is based on a number of pillars and, as with all businesses, it’s a team effort. I would therefore like to take this opportunity to thank all the COR team members for their commitment. This honour is a tribute to the work we all do every day.”
Mayor Theo Mettenborg emphasised how COR is a role model for entrepreneurial success, social responsibility and innovative spirit, and how the company makes an important contribution to the city’s economic strength.
The Rheda-Wiedenbrück Business Award is presented annually to companies which contribute to regional economic development through excellent entrepreneurial achievements, an active contribution to the city’s future development, loyalty to the location, specialist know-how and the alignment of business goals with environmental considerations. COR now joins the existing list of distinguished award winners, and the award underlines the company’s role as an innovative and responsible market participant.
