Please touch and snuggle

PREVIEW: At DESIGN 2016 from 11 to 13 November at the MAK in Vienna, the COR interlübke Studio is couching its guests on comfortable cushions and unfolding an entire home landscape – based on the form of a folded cushion – from the orientally inspired Jalis collection.

Reiner B. Mortensen, Managing Director of COR interlübke Studio Vienna, has advice for trade fair visitors and design enthusiasts who are looking for new inspiration for their private comfort zone: "Feel at home, get up close with us". At the DESIGN16 in Vienna from 11 to 13 November, the passionate interior design experts show how to combine modern cosiness with abundant comfort and to present this living style in an emotional way. At the centre of their new home story for the chapter "Loft architecture" is complete furnishing with Jalis upholstered furniture. This is arranged on platforms, as single sofas or grouped around a table. The idea of the cushion is even to be found in the sleeping area – as a complete bed design!

It was a journey through the Orient that gave the designers Jehs+Laub the inspiration for their idea of upholstered furniture (sofas, chairs, beds), which has received the Red Dot Award. "The basic shape of Jalis is a flying cushion," explains Markus Jehs. "When it is folded, it created seating surfaces, backs and armrests." The filigree platforms and substructures, which are reminiscent of a suspension beam, form a gentle contrast to the lush cushions. The equally "floating" effect of the Jalis table is made possible by a new manufacturing process. The upper and lower surfaces of the table top are very narrow in shape, which makes their edges appear particularly fine. The flattering softness of the surface (finishes in lacquer, veneer or solid wood) is a pleasant side effect. The cover materials of the upholstered sofas, chairs and beds include fine fabrics and high-quality leather taken from the overall COR collection.

More intimate resting areas for sleeping or relaxing are designed with interlübke models. Created by team form ag, the design classic studimo is presented as a transparent modern library in the form of offset shelf elements. The upholstered bed Jalis is an invitation to snuggle up cosily, read, unwind or enjoy a relaxing sleep. The young design classic cube gap with its innovative concrete surface (instead of a simple cover plate) keeps favourite items within easy reach. The sideboard design comes from Werner Aisslinger. As an architecturally oriented element within the loft presentation, it also assumes the function of a room divider.

Seasonal Greetings

Graphic contrasts for the design of homely accessories, shelves or walls are the latest stylistic devices for snug living environments. At the COR interlübke Studio Vienna, a wintery birch forest contrasts with a concrete-coloured background, and together they become a mural and form the backdrop of the exhibition stand. Almost all of the furniture is black and white. Cognac-coloured leather, wood such as solid oak and natural-coloured carpets from Kinnasand provide warm, autumnal accents.

Perfect interaction is key

Every day, Reiner B. Mortensen (right) and his team at the COR interlübke Studio Vienna inspire people with design-oriented living to furnish their lives with exquisitely beautiful furniture. New furniture is planned or entire living concepts are designed with a fine feeling for customers' personal preferences. The perfect interaction between the two premium brands, seating furniture from COR and living room and bedroom furniture from interlübke, offers versatile design possibilities that are individually interpreted and "tailor-made". At the MAK, and also throughout the year in the studio at Tuchlauben 21, the Viennese sense of living is unfolded again and again. So it is allowed to pick and choose – at least when the composition or furnishings come from Tuchlauben 21.
