New colleagues at the office

Whatever you do at your workplace, seating furniture from COR will be great colleagues – product launches and new developments: ORGATEC 21-25 October 2014, Hall 10.2, Stand Q10/P11

Experts say that the colour combines emotional and rational components, with blue representing the horizon, freshness and wide, open spaces. Executed as design concepts, these attributes can also benefit the working world. In all variations from light to dark or from vibrant to discreet, the seating furniture manufacturer COR is now using them for its presentation at ORGATEC in Cologne (planning by büro_kräling, Hamburg). Surrounded by transparent, illuminated fabric coverings and suspensions, visitors experience in five themed areas how contemporary offices, conference rooms, lounges and waiting zone can be not only appealingly designed, but also furnished with great seating comfort.

New on the agenda: CORDIA chairs

CORDIA, the new conference and office chair series, combines seating comfort and ergonomic design. Upholstered seat shells with armrests, two different backrest heights and a reclining mechanism will be on show. There is a choice of aluminium frames with feet on glides or rollers, or alternatively a wire frame (chrome-plated or lacquered). Distinctive quilting seams emphasise the contours, while the covers reveal interesting colour and material variation. Designed by Jehs + Laub, the chairs furnish refined offices or conference rooms, lounges and waiting zones, as well as home offices or private rooms. CORDIA therefore forms a complete product family consisting of chairs, easy chairs and matching side tables.

Ideal for the contract segment: AFFAIR and SCOPE (design: Uwe Fischer)

The basic idea of the upholstered furniture programme AFFAIR is a series of combinable modules with sloping seat surfaces and contrasting backrests, complemented by small table elements. The system elements can be detached and re-attached using magnetic connectors. New as from October 2014: variants with armrests the same height as the backrests which can be inserted between two elements or used as end elements. This means that "closed" sofa models can now be configured or "islands" formed within entire sofa landscapes. How to design seating furniture which invites people to rest, work or hold private conversations? The contract furniture programme SCOPE is based on the polygon shape, has vertical backrests and a comfortable seat shell on the inside. It looks best standing alone in the room. The backrests can be raised with additional elements up to a height of 1.42 metres.

Raising the bar

The latest extension to the JALIS product family provides two bar stool models with and without backrest which can be used in restaurants and bars, the contract segment, as well as in living rooms and living/dining rooms. The underframes are made in metal or wood as required and tailored individually to the surrounding interior. Covers are available in fabric or leather. Design: Jehs+Laub.

Architects' favourite: Upholstered furniture MELL

Cubic and reserved on the outside, comfortable and soft on the inside: MELL has a delicate steel construction on which the furniture corpus appears to float. The programme designed by Jehs + Laub and predestined for the contract segment embraces classic individual easy chairs, corner easy chairs and 2 and 3-seater sofas. In order to facilitate a variety of arrangements in different lengths the sofas are also provided with individual right or left armrests. Three different stool elements can be added or also serve as benches. The ensemble is completed with various side tables.

Upholstered easy chairs to linger in: CORDIA and SHRIMP

A swivelling, well upholstered easy chair which fits into any ambience: This was the idea behind CORDIA, a graceful model with comfortable armrests. It supports a comfortable, upright sitting posture and is also a good companion during longer conversations. To increase comfort, the designers Jehs + Laub have fitted their design optionally with a high back rest and a reclining mechanism. The elegant lounge chair SHRIMP is recognisable by its sharp silhouette with the characteristic indentations. Covers made of leather or fabric are available for the upholstered interior of the bentwood shell. On the outside, the furniture corpus can be finished in wood or lacquer, as well as fabric and leather. An additional foot stool provides relaxation in case the business report should take a little longer to read. Design: Jehs + Laub.
