DESIGN 2019 Vienna: Contemporary home design

From 15 to 17 November, the COR interlübke Studio Vienna is hosting DESIGN 2019 at the MAK/Museum of Applied Arts. The annual design fair, organised by the renowned daily newspaper "Die Presse", brings together over 50 design visionaries. As an interface to design, architecture and contemporary art, the MAK offers the perfect setting for an examination of contemporary living culture.

Since 2013, premium manufacturers have been using DESIGN as a platform for their sustainable, aesthetic and functional design. COR interlübke Studio Vienna, for example, will be presenting its concept of living design for the sixth time in succession – with COR and interlübke furniture. The presentation focuses on seating furniture from COR and the sideboard jorel from interlübke. The Moss sofa can also be discovered here, as can the Conic table and the Cordia Lounge easy chair – accompanied by the Mell Lounge and the Alvo upholstered chair launched in 2019. "These innovative pieces of furniture exemplify our understanding of contemporary living art," says Managing Director Reiner B. Mortensen. "They are modern, yet durable and forward-looking in their aesthetics."

On the upholstered furniture Moss (design by Jehs+Laub), repose is more than soft – like on a bed made of moss. Deep relaxation is unavoidable here. Realised in an archaically reduced design language whose elements and contours appear to have been carved out of a monolith, Moss stands for the renewal of contemporary seating culture. The segmentation into fine incisions, additionally emphasised by seemingly three-dimensional decorative seams, as well as the gently rounded side and back sections represent a creative device that favours a modern, more casually cool overall effect. The divan for the 21st century impresses with oversized relaxation cushions and an 'invisible' frame that seems to float in the room despite its copious volume.

The Cordia Lounge easy chair (design by Jehs+Laub) with its gently supported head area and matching stool also conveys the same comfort. The adjustable tilt mechanism allows different position changes. The slender seat shell contrasts with the comfortable, soft interior, giving the easy chair its typically elegant silhouette.

"Two in one" is offered by the upholstered chair Alvo (design by Jehs+Laub), which combines both chair and easy chair with its voluminous, removable seat cushions in a refined matt shell. As the back is also springy, sitting endlessly at the table is encouraged. Cushion covers in all leathers and fabrics, four frame variants and shells in black, white and, if desired, also lacquered in special colours, satisfy every taste.

Jehs+Laub have developed the 'Mell' family over recent years. The cube-based Mell sofa has been transformed into the even more comfortable upholstered furniture Mell Lounge. A modern range of modular furniture with gently rounded back cushions and seats, providing a special lightness on its graceful metal frames. The comfort factor is enhanced by sumptuous cushions as an invitation to sit back or stretch out comfortably. Cosy. Casual. Laid-back.

The table Conic (design by Murken + Hansen) is not only designed for dining with family or friends, but also makes conferences and meetings a "real round table". Its round, oval or rectangular top is available in oiled solid oak, ash, walnut or lacquered. The base, made of the unique Cristalplant composite material cast in matt white, not only feels soft, but is also 100% recyclable and easy to clean.

The sideboard jorel (design by Philipp Mainzer) from interlübke fits seamlessly into the versatile seating landscape. It was awarded "Best of Best" in the category Interior Innovation at the Iconic Awards 2017 and impresses with its clear geometry and refined materials.

Sensual materials such as largely natural leather and woven fabrics with a haptic effect underline the concept of this modern living oasis with a feel-good factor. The earthy beige and brown tones lend a sense of security, closeness to nature and familiarity. They interact harmoniously with the geometric, simple and playful wall design which takes up the colour trends of 2020.
