Brand is communications: from catalogue to Configurator

To coincide with the release of the new catalogue in three volumes (CONSETA/SOFAS AND EASY CHAIRS/CHAIRS AND TABLES) the premium brand COR is going online with its new B2C Configurator – for the long seller Conseta.

Elaborately presented and photographed, exquisitely designed and finished: With a total edition of 68,000 copies, three new individual catalogues are now available for the current COR collection 2017/18. These naturally include the new products presented at the imm cologne such as the individual easy chairs Flint and Roc, the upholstered bench Mell and the new model variants of the sofa programmes Pilotis and Conseta. The 64-page individual CONSETA catalogue is dedicated to the timeless design classic and its endless variety of combinations with emotive milieu and studio photos, characteristic detail views and functional design drawings. "People can use it as a production book for life with our most versatile sofa system," explains Marketing Director Berthold Strüve, "and plan their own furniture online with the new configurator." Two further individual volumes, SOFAS AND EASY CHAIRS and CHAIRS AND TABLES, present the high-quality models of these collection areas. "With expressive colours, unconventional angles and, in some cases, milieu scenes with a more intimate feel, we reflect the life-worlds of our target groups", explains Strüve. "COR furniture is made for individualists who lend their furniture a personal touch and therefore prefer furniture with character in an independent design language." In the future, catalogues will remain indispensable as analog business cards for retailers and end customers, accompanied by the new product magazine CORcooning and the flyers currently produced twice a year and enclosed in special interest publications in German-speaking countries, as well as in the Netherlands and Belgium. Advertisements, advertorials and specific campaign elements can in turn be found in analog and digital media. The media strategy favours advertising media which correspond to the premium character of the brand and provide it with their innovative presentation and dialogue formats.

Plan your own individual Conseta

With the new online configurator at, prospective customers can plan their own individual Conseta model, design different variants and save or print the results including a recommended retail price and a detailed data sheet. A planning ID assigned by e-mail allows the recall or alteration of the configuration, for example if the design has been discussed with family members or is continued and completed by a specialised retailer. Only here do users have the opportunity to select the appropriate furniture cover from the approximately 430 fabrics and 80 types of leather used in the COR collection and test different upholstery in softer or firmer qualities. Only technical consultation can specify the customer's request in detail; for example, when it comes to one of the various expansion solutions or special dimensions. "With the Conseta configurator we have devoted ourselves to the most complex furniture programme from the start," comments project manager Tobias Janorschke. "Now that the B2C planning tool exists, we can swiftly add further models." An upstream "Wizard" for the desired number of seat elements (1, 2 or 3-seater) as well as for body width, depth and shape facilitates preselection from the multitude of possibilities. Using the modular principle, the basic design is further developed using a "sidebar": The body, armrests, feet, the basic choice of the cover (fabric or leather) and cushion fillings are selected by clicking, and the design immediately begins to take shape in a 2D or 3D variant. Naturally, attachments such as corner elements or couches are also possible when configuring the body. When a configuration is completed, prospective customers receive their personal planning ID, a detailed data sheet as well as information on a specialist retailer in their vicinity. "The virtual Conseta planner far exceeds its predecessor," emphasises Marketing Director Berthold Strüve. The fact that it also works perfectly on tablets is a basic prerequisite. Within the company, the development of the new planning tool has ensured that the Conseta modular system and every individual element is once more thoroughly checked and completely updated: "New since 1964" – a claim that will continue to apply in the future.
