Rheda-Wiedenbrück, 30 January 2025. A string of successful projects and a strong presence in the national and international marketplaces were the hallmarks of the past year for COR Sitzmöbel. One key milestone was the opening of a new materials warehouse with the most sustainable energy efficiency class EE 40. It involved an investment in the region of EUR 6 million and is the company’s largest construction project to date. After more than a year of construction work, the production team at Rheda-Wiedenbrück now has 3,000 square meters of storage space available to it. The new warehouse facility eliminates the need for intermediate storage areas, making efficient on-demand deliveries of individual components to the production lines according to the “lean factory” concept possible.
“The completion of the new central warehouse is a real highlight that represents a major investment in the future viability of our location,” emphasised Leo Lübke, Managing Partner of COR. “We have been manufacturing high-quality furniture here in Rheda-Wiedenbrück for seven decades now and our continuous investments will enable us to take our success story forward in the decades to come,” he added.
A year of innovations
The products taking the COR product portfolio forward into the future include classics such as the Conseta sofa, which has been part of the COR product portfolio for 60 years, as well as a regular stream of new products being successfully launched on the market. Examples of recent innovations include the Ipa table (design: kräling_lübke) and the Echo side table (design: Lukas Heintschel), both top exhibits at the imm in Cologne, and the Siwa sofa (design: Altherr Désile Park) at the Milan Design Week. The last trade fair in the year was Orgatec, where COR showcased the new Jalis Flow element furniture programme (design: Jehs+Laub). Siwa appeals to retailers, architects and consumers alike. With its organic aesthetics, it not only closes a gap in the premium brand’s extensive sofa range, but also captures the spirit of the times as the answer to consumer demand for comfortable and versatile retreats.
Forward-looking ideas and special achievements
Further digitalisation projects, such as the introduction of the new CRM system and the final implementation of the PIM system, are also part of the company’s future roadmap. COR has continued to expand its COR Spaces shop-in-shop concept, with new openings at Drifte in Moers (GER), Meiser in Hanau (GER) and Cilo in Zutphen (NL). The CORever second-life programme was recognised as the best sustainability project in the category of recycling at the German Sustainability Project Awards. Further highlights include the publication of the second sustainability report for the years 2022/23 and a special tribute to our apprentice Luisa Kleinert, who was named the best upholstery and decoration seamstress in Germany.
With a successful anniversary year behind them and a clear focus on future projects, COR and its 231-strong team are starting the new financial year on a positive note – ready to continue shaping the furniture industry in the years to come.
