New products in 2018

A sofa as soft as down, purist coffee tables, cool sofa beds, new frame variants, an easy chair detail for deep thinkers: Welcome to living with COR! Premiere imm cologne, 15 to 21 January, Hall 11.3, S10/T11

A clean conscience is a good pillow. Our "Blue Angel" (Blauer Engel) eco-label certified furniture contributes to the former. We have provided what is perhaps the most beautiful and up-to-the-minute evidence of the latter: Moss. Reminiscent of a sumptuous, soft, upholstered cushion, the sofa with the cuddle factor embodies the classic divan in a new way: in a modern/archaic form. Its outer shape looks like a monolith or a sculpture, and inside it surprises with expansive, extremely soft pillow surfaces into which you literally sink - and from which you never want to get up again. As a closed-base divan for the 21st century, Moss rests on a fine flat steel construction whose elements simply "reflect themselves away". "We have reversed the traditional sofa shape," emphasise the designers Jehs+Laub, "instead of thin cushions and a heavy base, Moss has a large cushion volume, enhanced with soft down encasements. The frame beneath is completely unobtrusive in its appearance." Moss combines maximum seating comfort with pure relaxation. You can sit, rest and lie on it – or just do nothing. Depending on the degree of the individual cuddle factor, smaller or larger landscapes can be planned. The armrests can be configured either symmetrically or unilaterally. If you then place only individual back cushions on the right or left, modern forms of the recamier are created. The additional stool element can be combined with any sofa variant.

Sting coffee tables – passe-partouts for interior design

The name of the new Sting furniture series is derived from its delicate metal legs, but the visual focus is more on their table tops with surfaces made from finely crafted materials. The modular programme is designed to provide the right "frame" for any seating furniture, be it sofas, loungers or easy chairs, to bring the necessary accessories within easy reach, but also to simply look good on its own. Sting meets these demands with a particularly purist design that highlights the beauty and value of all the materials used. Oak, ash and walnut are among the solid woods used. MDF surfaces in lacquer colours are now also available with powder coating, making them more resistant to scratching. Coloured glass plates are lacquered underneath in colour, glass is dyed completely in a bronze or black tone. With marble and limestone, stone surfaces are also offered for the first time. The combination-friendly coffee tables in the basic shapes circle, square and rectangle come in three heights (30/35/40 cm) so that groups of two or three can also be created in staggered arrangements.

Well rested and wide awake: the new Trio sofas

The more variously it is used, the more the Trio upholstered range is in its element, where it offers seemingly endless new functions. Recently, the perennially modern initial design from the seventies was re-edited with great success. Now the all-rounder also appears as a sofa bed, ideal for use in apartments, studios or guest rooms. Even in the living room, the variously configurable upholstery can quickly turn a sit-in into a bed-in, based loosely on role models John Lennon and Yoko Ono. In no time at all, the generous lengthwise elements of the 1 metre deep sofa can be folded out to lengths of 1.5 or 2 metres. The resulting bed surfaces – with high-quality cold foam beneath the covers - are just as generous as they are suitable for couples (1.5 x 2 metres/2 x 2 metres).

For deep thinkers and avid readers: Cordia easy chairs

Since its relaunch in 2012, the upholstered easy chair Cordia has become a favourite with consumers, thanks above all to its modern appearance and functional seating comfort, with the latter being enhanced continuously. The existing model version with a high back has now been raised by another 10 cm. In future, both high-backed easy chairs will always be fitted with a "head adjustment". In combination with the built-in tilting mechanism for the seat shell, the easy chairs can be individually adapted to all desired body postures. The shapely headrest does not look added on, but fits harmoniously into the overall design.

Nice legs: new Mell Lounge variants

In the new living year, sofas and easy chairs from the Mell Lounge family have been given a further base in addition to the characteristic skid frame, which enhances their floating appearance even more. The new configurations with metal legs, which can be chrome-plated or lacquered in one of various colours, are also discreetly understated and emphasise the geometric lines of this lounge furniture. Particularly appealing highlights are created when the externally hard, internally soft upholstered surfaces contrast with the new base frame, for example in the colour combination terracotta and black.
