Welcome to COR's comfort zone!

Premium manufacturer COR is surprising everyone at Orgatec 2016 with an installation that creates architecture from contract furniture with space-creating characteristics. Inside, six individually furnished theme islands show how the workspace can be transformed into completely new comfort zones.

"A trade fair stand must also serve the same functions as those at conferences, in the office, in lounges or reception areas. Exhibitors and guests come together and work, communicate or relax," says Peter Kraling, who designed the installation. In 2016, the COR concept of functional, individual and comfortable seating furniture for the contract sector deliberately features a more homely design. The stand is completely surrounded by a configuration of new Affair modules with high backrests, appearing like a protective cocoon, offering a view inside the stand and piquing curiosity. Dark, hood-like hangings suspended from the ceiling lead the gaze to focus exclusively on the furniture exhibition: "We have created an exciting panorama in a Cinemascope format," explains the interior architect. Inside, the Affair setting has been combined with various tables, side-tables and chairs. New areas are created where the new functions (sitting and working at table height/sitting and standing at a back-facing counter panel) can be presented. "We are showing the entire spectrum of the contract furniture range Affair. In order to divide the room visually and functionally, we use combinations of straight and curved elements, creating lines, curves and even radii," says Kraling.

Six comfort zones in detail

Office environments vary, and so does the furniture. However, only one person can sit in the boss's seat, preferably the new chair model Cordia Plus, which is available in two backrest heights. The office furniture is presented in contrasts: masculine in black leather and dark fabric, feminine in a rosewood-coloured textile covering. In addition, a whole ensemble of COR chairs from the Cordia, Roc, Fino and Jalis ranges awaits visitors to the trade fair. The colour palette for the fabric and leather upholstery includes discreet, cool, green, grey and black tones. Next, for Mell world, a glistening ultramarine blue has been selected, its elements (upholstered easy chairs and sofas) appearing to meld with the same-coloured carpet from Carpet Concept: a lounge area in which to relax, to "chill out". Relaxation areas such as this could also be furnished with the Cordia lounge chair. With their refined brown leather covering, the two chairs create an interesting contrast to the rather rustic walnut floorboards. In the Scope zone things are softer: The vertically-oriented contract furniture with padded top sections forms small islands which can be used for private conversations, a burgundy carpet (Object Carpet Silky Seal) reinforces the cosy atmosphere. The conclusion comes in the form of the Cordia family of various chairs. The models include high and low backs as well as various frame variants. The colour spectrum of blue, indigo and black with lightly-shaded contrasting colours is rounded off by a soft, matt blue carpet (Carpet Concept Eco).

Feel-good seating comfort

"We are consistently reversing the trend to leave the comfort zone in order to develop your personality", comments head of marketing Berthold Strüve. "For us, new visions of work means offering flexible concepts, providing planners with creative design options and users with maximum seating comfort." Homely furnished architectures create an individual, more intimate and emotional atmosphere. Concentrated working, long meetings and stimulating communication will benefit from it. Employees, visitors or business partners should always feel at ease, even during longer stays or working hours. The best way to achieve this is in a comfort zone that has been equipped with COR contract furniture.
