"We have a weakness for good design. That's our strength."

Since the beginning of its company history, COR has been synonymous with timeless and innovative furniture design. Three design classics will now be presented from 20 to 22 November 2019 in the luxurious JSWB Mall in Shanghai by Schelbach Home.

Since its foundation in 1954, COR has been family-run and its entire production has been based in Rheda-Wiedenbrück, Germany. Today, as then, high-quality seating and upholstered furniture for international markets is manufactured here. Today, all products are sustainably manufactured and issued with the Greenguard certificate. Renowned designers such as Luigi Colani, Peter Maly, Jehs+Laub, Metrica, Uwe Fischer and Jörg Boner have designed unmistakable furniture throughout the company's history, furnishing both private and public spaces. For its outstanding design, the company has already received over 50 corporate and product awards such as the Red Dot Award, Iconic Award, German Design Award and Good Design Award.

By combining design, innovation and traditional craftsmanship, as well as values such as quality, longevity and attention to detail, COR creates successful products and contemporary furniture design that goes beyond trends and fashions. The best proof of this is the sofa classic Conseta, which is celebrating its 55th birthday this year. When F.W. Möller designed the Conseta in 1964, no one could have imagined that a successful model had been born. As flexible as a construction kit and as versatile as a chameleon. What was revolutionary then is a matter of course for us now. Which is why this classic has lost none of its charm. On the contrary, Conseta possesses a reduced beauty which will last for years to come.

Another example of long-term design "Made by COR" is the Sinus easy chair (design: R. Adolf, H.-J. Schröpfer), which was already ahead of its time in 1976. With curved spring steel skids, whose shape gave it its name, and upholstery that is as unusual as it is comfortable. Robust butt leather straps hold the round upholstery elements in the seat and back. Optionally with or without armrests and stools, the lines are unconventional yet extremely comfortable. On the occasion of the company's 50th anniversary in 2004, the easy chair was relaunched. Now as then, Sinus stands for the timeless and innovative design of COR.

In 2012, the designer duo Jehs+Laub redesigned the former COR model Cordia. The result was a more than comfortable, swivelling reading and conference easy chair with a slim silhouette. In 2016 it was extended to include the Cordia Lounge, which with its voluminous, softly upholstered seat cushion, swivel base and adjustable tilt mechanism is designed for comfort from head to toe and fulfils all the requirements of a lounge chair.
