Gerd Lange

Farmer

Gerd Lange studied at the University of Art and Design in Offenbach and founded his own design studio in Kapsweyer, Rhineland-Palatinate, in 1961. Throughout his creative career, the furniture developer and product designer has designed countless everyday objects. His chairs, in particular, have been extremely successful. In short, Gerd Lange had a decisive influence on the design history of the Federal Republic of Germany in the 1970s and 1980s. His designs for Drabert, Thonet, DeSede and Wogg, to name but a few, won many awards. In 1965, Gerd Lange designed a series of foldable furniture for the Bofinger company in Stuttgart, consisting of a chair, a table, a bed and a cupboard – Farmer.
