COR history
A matter of the heart

1954
In autumn 1954, Leo Lübke — acting on behalf of his son Helmut Lübke — and Prince Bentheim Tecklenburg founded the factory for the manufacture of upholstered furniture.

1959
Michael Bayer designed an upholstery group made up of five elements and therefore named "Quinta". It was the first modular programme of its kind and made an entirely new, flexible approach to interior design possible.

1964
The greatest success in the company's history was designed in 1964 by F. W. Möller: Conseta, one of the very first modular furniture systems.

1969
As early as 1969, the highly fruitful collaboration with designer Peter Maly began. Then still relatively unknown, he developed the Trinom seating group for COR.

1970
In the 1970s, Luigi Colani's Orbis model became one of the most successful pieces in the range.

1973
In that year the Trio modular seating system was created by the Swiss studio team form ag. In 1997, 25 years after the original design, the same designers developed a "new" Trio that built on the successes of the original.

1984
Zyklus, designed by Peter Maly, was met with disbelief in 1983, named furniture of the year in 1984 — and by 2004 was long established as a modern classic.

1994
Helmut Lübke handed management of the company over to his son Leo.

2000
The Arthe model by Prof. Wulf Schneider & Partner won the red dot for the highest design quality — the most important award presented by Design Zentrum NRW. The company employed more than 200 people.

2002
COR and interlübke opened their first joint brand shop in Hanover. The flagship store presented both brands exclusively in a new environment. Shortly after its premiere at the International Furniture Fair in Cologne, the Scroll model won the red dot: product design award.

2004
A year of anniversaries. COR turned 50 and Conseta turned 40. The classic received the interior innovation award in the "best classic" category. A further COR interlübke studio opened in Berlin.

2005
After 2004, COR received the Design Award of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia for the second time. The COR Award for Journalists was presented for the first time at IMM in Cologne.

2006
COR and interlübke opened another exclusive brand shop in Paris. COR delivered 1,800 Trinus sleeper chairs for three new AIDA cruise ships. Helmut Lübke, who led the company until 1994 and remained a shareholder thereafter, passed away at the age of 70 during a trip to Africa. Leo Lübke also took over management at the sister company interlübke.

2008
After three years of construction, the COR and interlübke Haus opened in Wiedenbrück. Across 3,000 m² it houses the showrooms of COR and interlübke alongside the COR collection.

2009
LAVA, the seating, lounge and reclining piece developed by Studio Vertijet, received the Design Award of the Federal Republic of Germany in Silver.

2013
Conseta, Shrimp armchairs and Quant chairs went on board the MS EUROPA 2, which set sail for Hapag-Lloyd cruises from May 2013 onwards. In total, 251 suites were furnished with 681 COR pieces.

2014
Happy birthday: CONSETA turns 50! In January 1964 a furniture design that was at once simple and ingenious was first seen by the trade — by 2014 CONSETA was one of the world's classic sofas. Continuity matters: COR completed its 60th year and Conseta celebrated its 50th. A new COR interlübke studio opened in Munich.

2020
In Berlin eröffnet das erste COR Studio, wo Kunden eine große Auswahl an COR Möbeln vorfinden.

2021
The first COR Studio is opening in Berlin, where customers will find a wide selection of COR furniture.

2023
COR has published its first sustainability report.

2024
