made in Rheda-Wiedenbrück. Our leather mainly comes from southern Germany, some upholstery fabrics from Italy — but every component is assembled and inspected in Rheda-Wiedenbrück in Westphalia.
Rheda... what? Quite possibly you have not heard of our home. Rheda-Wiedenbrück is a small town of 48,000 in North Rhine-Westphalia, more precisely in the heart of the East Westphalia-Lippe furniture cluster. Nowhere else in Germany is more furniture produced than in the region around Gütersloh, Herford and Bielefeld. People here live and breathe furniture — they have done so for generations and with great passion. Probably nowhere else are there so many outstanding upholsterers, cabinetmakers and seamstresses as here. Some of the very best of them work at COR.
Our company was founded in 1954 by Helmut Lübke together with the Prince of Bentheim-Tecklenburg. Since the princely co-founder withdrew in the 1980s, our family has been the sole owner and managing director of COR. This naturally fosters foresight, commitment and a heightened sense of quality — we proudly stand with our name behind our made-to-measure furniture. And we take care personally if something is not one hundred percent perfect (yes, it does happen).

Far more often, however, customers come back to us after many years, sometimes decades: could you not refurbish my COR piece for me? Renew its cover, which has worn a little thin after countless years? Replace the padding of an inherited Conseta so it can be sat on again as if new? Of course we can. And we do, whenever possible. That too is part of the COR spirit.
In case you are wondering: our name does not come from Westphalia but from the region around Rome. COR is the Latin word for heart. The three hearts in the coat of arms of our princely co-founder inspired our naming — a happy coincidence, as we have come to realise over the years just how much the heart has to do with COR beyond the name itself. Living at home is a true matter of the heart. And so is the furniture we build to make a home cosy. It was true yesterday — and it will still be true tomorrow.
